The Postures and MUZAI Records are proud to announce the release of the label's first vinyl 45, and the Postures' first release of 2011, the 7" single Bushwalker/Alpha Male. Adhering to a minimal sonic format, A-side "Bushwalker" dispenses with key changes, and stubbornly sticks to one key for the duration of the song (it's in D, for the record). But what a doozy of a key it is! Over the top of this vocalist/guitarist Michael Havell sings about walking through the bush, the call of the tui, and the flight of the native NZ wood pigeon (the kereru), while band mates Jeremy Nolan and Michael Harvey add to the drama with some inspired noise-drenched guitar (Nolan) and groove-laden drumming thunder (Harvey). By rights, this should be a new national anthem (is there a way of achieving this? Answers to thepostures@gmail.com). Flipside “Alpha Male” amps up the tempo with a catchy riff and some strident punk rock guitars, as Havell hollers about the perils of too much testosterone in too small a gene pool.
Those that purchase the vinyl will receive an MP3 download code of both tracks that will also give them a special bonus track, the Postures’ very own tribute to lo-fi garage rockers the Mummies in the form of the fantastic song “You Must Fight To Live (On The Planet Of The Apes)”!
